Two reasons, and we'd rather be upfront about both. First, we genuinely believe herbalists deserve professional tools that respect the years they've spent training — and we didn't think the answer should cost £30 a month. Second, we're the team behind Konfidens, and we hope that some of the herbalists who find TinctureTally useful will want to explore Konfidens for the rest of their practice management too. TinctureTally is free, fully functional, and useful on its own — but if it introduces you to Konfidens, that works out well for us too. We think that's a fair deal worth being honest about.

TinctureTally is designed with data privacy in mind. The app uses client IDs rather than client names — you decide what those IDs mean and how they map to your client records in your EHR. This means your dispensing log in TinctureTally contains no personally identifiable information. Your product and dispensing data is stored securely and is only accessible to your own account. As a practitioner, you remain the data controller for your own records; TinctureTally processes data on your behalf as a data processor.

Download the import template from within the app, fill in your products — botanical name, supplier, current stock, unit, low-stock threshold, and other optional fields — and upload it to populate your account in one go. Most herbalists are up and running with their full product list in 15–30 minutes.

When your stock runs low, TinctureTally identifies which products are below their threshold and groups them by supplier. It then generates a plain-text order email for each supplier — listing the products you need to reorder — which you can copy and paste directly into an email. Each product in your database is linked to a supplier, so the grouping is automatic.

A Tincture Formula is a liquid prescription — a blend of tinctures, fluid extracts, oils, or hydrosols measured in mL. A Herbal Infusion is a dried herb blend measured in grams, typically prepared as a tea. TinctureTally treats these separately because they use different units and generate different EHR text. When dispensing, you choose which type you're making, and the app adjusts accordingly.
